The above graph shows the actual and projected residential cost of Natural Gas in Saskatchewan.

The current cost is 33.27 cents per cubic meter pre-GST, and this represents an average increase of 4.6% per year over the last 20 years.

The following table provides estimated installed costs and savings for households with various hot water usage requirements.  This data includes a number of limiting assumptions.  We would be happy to provide numbers, graphs, and analysis based on your specific configuration.

**Savings is the estimated value of natural gas saved by the system over 25  years.

A partial list of assumptions used in the above numbers and generation of the graphs include:

  • System is located in central Saskatchewan (changing location will change the angle of the sun and the amount of sunlight available which is determined from historical weather data.

  • Collectors are facing south and tilted 25 degrees.  An increased tilt will increase system performance.

  • Collectors are not shaded.

  • Natural Gas water heater is 50% efficient - as recommended by the RETScreen software developed for Natural Resources Canada.

  • Natural Gas costs increase of 4.6% per year - contact us if you would like to see a different gas increase rate modeled.
