VerEco Net Zero Energy Home
Solar Thermal
Although these EnerWorks solar thermal panels are typically installed side-by-side, we did a non-standard install for this demonstration home which includes some custom low-profile flashing to hide the solar piping. The original design called for 4 panels on this wall, but was modified to include some south-facing windows between the three panels.
If possible, we would suggest not having the panels located on the deck, as there is a tempation to obscure them with furnature, BBQ, etc., as well as shading from the deck railing. Even with the slight shading, the winter performance of these panels was amazing, capturing both direct solar energy and a lot of reflected energy off the ice and snow of the museum parking lot.
