Residential Solar Hot Water systems typically install in series with your existing water heating system.  They can allow you to have a smaller or less expensive water heater, but typically do not replace an existing system.

Rock Paper Sun is currently installing EnerWorks domestic solar water heating systems for $750 off of the suggested retail price.  We also offer rent and rent-to-own options.

Domestic hot water system installs include:

  • One or more solar collectors, usually mounted on the house roof
  • An energy pack and solar storage tank which collects and stores energy from the solar collector(s)
  • Insulated copper tubing connecting the collector to the energy pack, and the storage tank to your existing household hot water system
  • Complete setup and installation - Our job is not done until you have free hot water in your tank.

In Saskatchewan a $1500 grant is available to home owners that install solar water heating.  Additional funds are available for low or moderate income households, owners of rental properties and commercial usage of solar hot water.  Up to $4000 is available for moderate income home owners.  See our Funding page for more details.

The Government of Canada produces a useful booklet titled "Solar Water Heating Systems - A Buyer's Guide"
